This is hard to critique. On the one hand, I think it needs improvement, but on the other, I'm having trouble saying just how or what specifically needs improvement.
As near as I can get is so say that it needs actual studio instrumentation, but from my mouth to god's ears, amiright? (I know.) The blend of 20's ragtime swing vocals and Heavy emo/nu-metal is, while not entirely original, is not a well trodden path either, so it's still a fresh take IMHO, and this is a fine entry into the annals of such works as the Squirrel Nut Zippers "Hell," The Rolling Stones "Sympathy for the Devil," and gave me the feel that this was the song The Devil would have sung to Johnny in Charlie Daniel's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia."
It just...feels...to "artificial." :/
Still 4.5/5 So, hopefully one day you can get into a studio with some actual musical instruments and a mixing board and re-cut this great track into a smoother studio edit.
I'd say "Godspeed" but...well...you know. ;)
